December CEMPOC Newsletter

Updated: Dec 17, 2024

Happy Advent to all of you supporters of the CEM POC grant!! It is our sincere prayer that you are coming into the Advent season with a hunger for Jesus and the light that He brings to us. We would have to be blind not to see the darkness in the world and there is a temptation to despair.

The good news is that no matter how dark the darkness becomes, it only takes the smallest light from a flickering candle to dispel it! The light truly is greater than the dark and evil has no power over the Children of Light. Christ is our light, and he is our elder brother and when we keep our eyes fixed on Him then we can walk in confidence into even the darkest places. I encourage all of our supporters to take this truth into your prayer times. Sit in the dark, light a candle and ponder the incredible power of that single flickering light.

There is more, however! As Jesus is the light that has come into the world (Jn 8:12), in like manner, He proclaims that WE are the light of the world! We are a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden! (Mt 5:14- 16). If that isn’t enough “good news” to put a smile on your face, then maybe your face is broken! Let me assure you that through your support of this grant, YOU are bringing a great light into the lives of many people through the missionaries that we serve and support. Whether big or small, your support makes an enormous difference, and the light will ALWAYS conquer the darkness. We need each other and so I encourage all to make time for more light in your lives this Advent. Be a light to your neighbors and friends… invite them to dinner… bless then with a word of encouragement… and let your light shine before the world! Remind the world that there is hope… there is peace … and there is joy!

And then when Christmas arrives and the chaos of shopping is over, I admonish you to sing and to sing loudly because God has come into the world in the face of a child. Even if you’re story is nearing its end, we know that even death has no power over us because He has conquered. May you and your loved ones celebrate the coming of the King of kings and find renewed hope as you share life together. O Come Emmanuel!
